Gillian Palmer

As a recent addition to Macmerry Animals1st,  I feel honoured to be part of such a dedicated, motivated and supportive team.  I graduated from the Edinburgh Royal Dick Veterinary School and after working in small animal practice for 8 years, took some time away to focus on my athletic endeavours as an endurance runner and a duathlete.  Having scratched this itch to pursue an athletic career, I then turned my attention back to my first love of veterinary medicine.  

Working with owners and their animals is an honour and a privilege;  I am revelling in the rewards brought by the daily joys and challenges involved in my return to the veterinary profession.   A career break brings with it life experience from which I can feel more equipped to embrace, manage and appreciate all the highs and lows as a GP vet.

I still like to run and cycle on my days off work, albeit at a slightly slower pace now! enjoying the Scottish countryside with my boyfriend and our bouncy vizsla Bruce.
