Dr Laura Hamilton BVM&S PgC SAC PgC SAM MRCVS Clinical Director

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh RDSVS in 2010. I worked in mixed practice for 7 years before deciding to focus solely on small animal practice. In 2016 I gained the General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Cardiology and in 2018 gained the Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Cardiology. I am now a member of the Veterinary Cardiovascular Society & on the Approved Heart Auscultation list: This can be done in practice or arranged either at shows or in group sessions. In 2019 I became a Kennel Club Approved Assessor for RFG scheme for BOAS for French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs and Pugs, this can be carried out at the practice or arranged for group sessions. In March 2020 i became the Kennel Club Breed Health Co-Ordinator for French Bulldogs.  I also enjoy breeding work, performing surgery and learning new and updated techniques.

I own 2 French Bulldogs, Minnie and Fliss (you may occasionally meet them in reception!) and have a keen interest in working with both breeders and pet owners to improve brachycephalic breed health including health testing and BOAS testing.

I started here as senior veterinary surgeon at Animals 1st Vets in July 2017 and I am really enjoying the new challenges and being part of this team. I work mainly at our Macmerry branch. I became the Clinical Director of the practice in November 2018.

In my spare time I enjoy seeing friends, reading, walking my dogs and have recently been attempting running!
