Nurses

Hi, I’m Carla. Despite being a lifelong animal lover, I originally wanted to work in business/marketing. Whilst studying Consumer Studies at University, I started volunteering weekly at the SSPCA as a hobby, and ended up continuing to volunteer for them for well over 2 years. It was during that time that I realised I could follow my real passion and work with animals. Since then I have worked in a pet shop, as a veterinary receptionist and went to college to attain a Pass With Distinction in HNC Animal Care.

Now I am thoroughly enjoying working as a Vet Nurse Assistant with the team at Animals 1st. Every day brings something different and I am constantly learning new things here. I love meeting and caring for all the different animals that come through the door. I hope to continue my studies in the future, and have just applied to study the Level 2 Certificate in Assisting Veterinary Surgeons in the Monitoring of Animal Patients Under Anaesthesia and Sedation.

I love nature and enjoying walking my rescue terrier, Judy, in my spare time. I also spend a fair amount of time looking after rescue dwarf rabbit Bonnie. My oldest pets are my two 7 year old goldfish.

Registered Veterinary Nurse; Lucinda MacDonald RVN

Hi, I’m Luci, and I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse after successfully completing the Level 3 Diploma at Edinburgh College in 2014.

I have a cat called Pixie, a Sphynx I adopted last year, and I absolutely adore her! I had a Siamese cat growing up, and a variety of small furries throughout my childhood…and some fish, too. My favourite well known animal has to be Christian the Lion, a book about whom I read when I was on holiday in Kos last summer – a very interesting and enjoyable read, I might add :)

In the near future I intend to complete the ISFM Certificate in Feline Nursing.
