Registered Veterinary Nurses

Lucinda MacDonald RVN

Hi, I’m Luci, and I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse after successfully completing the Level 3 Diploma at Edinburgh College in 2014.

In 2016 I joined the team here at Animals1st, and I really enjoy working with everyone here, and getting to meet our lovely clients and having cuddles with all of their adorable pets.

I do love dogs, but I tend to be known as the crazy cat lady at Animals1st, as I adore cats.  My own little cat is called Pixie – a rescue Sphynx.  I had a Siamese cat growing up, and a variety of small furries throughout my childhood…and some fish, too.

Outside of work, my favourite activity is tennis, and I also really enjoy spending time with my 3 gorgeous nephews…and Pixie too, of course!

Animal Nursing Assistant

Carla Tait

Hi, I’m Carla. Despite being a lifelong animal lover, I originally wanted to work in business/marketing.  Whilst studying Consumer Studies at University, I started volunteering weekly at the SSPCA as a hobby, and ended up continuing to volunteer for them for well over 2 years. It was during that time that I realised I could follow my real passion and work with animals. Since then I have worked in a pet shop, as a veterinary receptionist and went to college to attain a Pass With Distinction in HNC Animal Care.

Now I am thoroughly enjoying working as a Vet Nurse Assistant with the team at Animals 1st. Every day brings something different and I am constantly learning new things here. I love meeting and caring for all the different animals that come through the door.

In 2017 I completed a Marine Mammal Medic course, and I hope to undertake more studies in the future.

In my spare time I enjoy volunteering for Wing and a Prayer Hen Rescue, and looking after my pets – 6 year old rescue terrier Judy, my 9 year old goldfish, and the newest addition to the family – 16 year old rescue cat Fergus.
